Public Schools

Dripping Springs Independent School District is located in the northwest portion of Hays County (approximately 19 miles west of Austin) and offers a comprehensive curriculum based on the goal of student achievement at the highest level. The curriculum is designed to promote student excellence and is structured to guarantee student success. Currently the district operates five campuses along with a central administration office, and separate transportation and support service facilities.
There are many factors that contribute to DSISD’s excellence in education, including a quality teaching staff at all grade levels. Outstanding academic and extracurricular activities are available to all students, and students routinely participate and excel in UIL competition.
In Dripping Springs the schools are the center of the community—parents and community members actively support the schools through PTA and volunteer programs. Dripping Springs ISD welcomes you to our community and we look forward to serving your students.
DSISD Mission Statement
We partner with parents and the community to provide a superior education for every student.
Charter Schools
The Katherine Anne Porter School offers a high school curriculum designed to foster an appreciation for learning, nurture individual interests, and enhance community responsibilities. In small classes, using an integrated and practical approach, students are encouraged to become lifelong learners while earning an accredited high school diploma. The free charter school is founded on the belief held by the renowned Texas writer, Katherine Anne Porter, that "knowledge is a great art and great thought is a good in itself, not to be missed for anything."
Texas Preparatory School
Located in San Marcos, Texas Preparatory School is a Texas Education Agency Exemplary School that has been serving students in grades K-6 since 2001. They are a tuition-free, public charter school, and enrollment is open to students residing in Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Comal Counties. One of their most unique features is that the charter holder is the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas, an extension of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They are only one of two Clubs in the United States that operates a charter school, and they have the benefit of integrating its programs into their educational plan.
